- Capture URLs and permalinks (open the item, copy the share/permalink URL).
- Take full-frame screenshots (include handle, timestamp, and any counts). Name files with ISO date + platform + ref (e.g., 2025-11-05_Reddit_R1.png).
- Save a PDF print of the page/thread where possible.
- Record metadata in Mapping workbook (Ref ID, URL, poster handle, date/time, alleged statements, severity).
- Preserve evidence: do not engage with the post; avoid tipping off the poster before capture is complete.
B. Reporting Ground (Defamation / Harassment / Privacy)
- Defamation: False statements of fact causing serious harm (Defamation Act 2013 s.1).
- Harassment: Course of conduct causing alarm/distress (Protection from Harassment Act 1997 s.2A).
- Privacy / Doxxing: Posting private information, images, addresses, phone numbers (platform privacy rules).
C. Report Submission — Reddit
- In-platform: Post/Comment → Report → choose “Harassment”, “Hate”, “Threatening/Violent Content”, etc.

- Moderator escalation: use Modmail to contact subreddit moderators with evidence.
D. Legal / Escalation Channel
If platform reports are unsuccessful and content is clearly defamatory/harassing, prepare a legal notice to Reddit, Inc. with URLs, usernames, timestamps, and exhibits.
E. Appeal / Re-review
Respond within the support ticket email or portal; add clarifying evidence. If a subreddit declines, escalate to admins with the ticket number and policy citations.
F. Internal Timetable (Target)
- Day 0: Capture and report; Modmail if urgent.
- Day 3: Admin report; reference Mod decision and attach exhibits.
- Day 7: Legal notice to Reddit if no action on clear breaches.
- Day 14: Consider court relief / NPO; preserve all logs.
